HANS BRÖG
12.11.2022 – 26.02.2023
Hans Brög, born in Kronach in 1935, is an artist and professor emeritus of art and art didactics at the University of Duisburg. He was a companion of Lothar-Günther Buchheim. In 1964, they met at an auction at Neumeister in Munich. When Buchheim tried to install his museum in Duisburg in the mid-1980s, their friendship deepened. The two artists' common interest was collecting in the broadest sense. Brög's focus is on artistic contemporaries, but also on objects of industrial and everyday culture. His highly diverse artistic oeuvre encompasses almost all genres from assemblage to printmaking. The combination of image and text is characteristic for him. The Buchheim Museum dedicates a concentrated cabinet exhibition to Buchheim's longtime companion. On display are drawings and watercolors from Brög's student years to the present day, which can easily compete with Kirchner and Klimt.
