KARL VALENTIN AND THE MUSIC

31.08. – 05.01.2025

Karl Valentin was a great musician, he mastered over ten musical instruments. Music played a central role in almost all of his sketches, films and radio plays. The exhibition shows the folk singer, song parodist and instrumental musician, the author of couplets, moritats, musical anecdotes and Damian chivalry songs. Original instruments of the great folk actor, which are in the possession of his great-granddaughter Rosemarie Scheitler, will be shown for the first time. And, of course, we are drawing on parts of the estate, which is held in the Theatre Studies Collection in Cologne. Valentin without music and instrument is unthinkable!

An exhibition of the Buchheim Museum and the FORUM HUMOR UND KOMISCHE KUNST e.V., supported by the Theatre Studies Collection of the University of Cologne.
