WITH A KEEN EYE & A SKILLED HAND. WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION

05.04. – 29.06.2025

The collection of the Buchheim Museum currently comprises about 1,500 paintings, 10,000 paper works, and 1,000 three-dimensional art objects. The works come from the collection of Lothar-Günther and Diethild Buchheim, are part of the endowment from the Joseph Hierling collection, or have been acquired as individual pieces over the years by the Buchheim Foundation. The collection is complemented by nearly 400 long-term loans. Only a fraction of these museum treasures can be shown at any given time. This time's selected exhibits include many of the masterpieces for which the Buchheim Museum is internationally renowned. Works by the »Brücke« artists are included as well as paintings by Max Beckmann (1884–1950) and Alexej von Jawlensky (1864–1941). At the same time, rarely shown or recently added pieces, such as those by Karl Meisenbach (1898–1976) and Karen Müller (1939–2022), are being presented to the public. Well-known works thus stand alongside those waiting to be newly discovered.
