HELMUT PFEUFFER: WOUNDED BEAUTY

26.07. – 16.11.2025

Helmut Pfeuffer (born 1933) makes visible a multi-layered reality in his paintings, where past, present, and future merge. In an art world dominated by Informel since the late 1940s, the painter has been steadfastly working for decades on his visual realities characterized by exaggerated colours and an expressive emphasis on the figurative. Pfeuffer's themes are landscape and figure, which for him form two sides of a coin in the sense of a holistic concept of nature. »The experience of nature condenses in Pfeuffer's painting into expressive landscape and figure images that symbolize a threatened world [...], for him, reality becomes an emotional allegory« (Mathias Arnold, 1988).
