CHOSEN. FURTHER WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION

15.11.2025 – 15.05.2026

Once again, this exhibition focuses on the diversity of works in the Buchheim Museum's collection. It follows a similar approach to the spring exhibition WITH A KEEN EYE & A SKILLED HAND. However, the selection differs significantly from the previous show and follows new thematic directions. The world-famous Expressionist masterpieces from the Buchheim Collection are presented alongside new works from the Hierling Collection, other lesser-known pieces from the Buchheim Collection, and previously unseen acquisitions of the Buchheim Foundation.

In line with the season, the landscapes this time give preference to autumn and winter scenes. Nighttime motifs also play a major role. The joys of ice skating are depicted, but carnival, fairs, and circus acrobatics are also featured. Again, contrasting very different works serves to highlight thematic similarities. The range of styles spans from Secessionist works and expressive imagery to objective-realist depictions and naive representations.
